Lisbon -Margaret C. (Peg) Baker, 88, of Darner Road died Wednesday afternoon, April 7, 2010 at her home.
Born September 6, 1921 in Leetonia, she was a daughter of the late Charles M. and Mary I. Carnes.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Leetonia Tool Company for several years before managing Baker Fruit Farm with her husband Oland.
A 1939 graduate of Leetonia High School, she was an active member of St. Jacobs United Church of Christ where she was a member of the Women's Guild and was a long-time Sunday School teacher. She was an avid reader and gardener and was a big Ohio State sports fan. She was a daily letter writer and enjoyed baking pies for others.
Peg loved her God, her church, and her family and always put others before herself.
Survivors include two children: Colleen (Jud) Chappell of Columbiana and Neil(Marge) Baker of Lisbon; a brother, Frank F. Carnes of Sebring; three grandchildren: Mat Chappell, Jodi (Michael) Mitchell, and Elizabeth B. Baker.
Her husband Oland M. Baker died in 2005. Also deceased are a son, Bren Baker and a brother, Charles Melvin Carnes.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday at the St. Jacobs United Church of Christ with the Rev. Jenna Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:45 PM in the church.
