Howard Russell (HR) Wolf, II, of East Palestine, 75, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Hospice House.
Born May 31, 1938 in Indianapolis, IN, he was a son of the late Howard R. and Doris A. (Boner) Wolf.
Mr. Wolf was a graduate of General Motors Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering. H worked as an engineer at GM Lordstown for 35 years before retiring in 1992. Upon retiring, Howard started Wolf Financial Services.
He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church where he had serve as a Deacon and was involved in vacation Bible school. He founded a local chapter of the North American Butterfly Association and was a master gardener. Living in Florida for more than 20 years before returning to Ohio, he volunteered for the Hernando County Schools, served as president of the Zebra Chapter of the North American Butterfly Association, acted as media liaison for the Hernando County Chapter of the Florida Plant Society, served as publicity chairman for the Brooksville Garden Club and the Spring Hill Garden Club, officiated as president and secretary of the Master Gardeners of Hernando County., served as president of the Hernando County Audubon Society, president of the Nature Coast Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society. Locally, he volunteered at Mill Creek Park. He truly loved nature.
He leaves his children Jon Wolf of Centerburg, OH, Becci Wolf of Canfield, Barbara Wolf of Brookville, FL, and Cheri Kinder of East Palestine; grandchildren Anthony Kinder, Nathan Kinder, Christian Kinder, Amelia Wolf, Kirk Wolf, Dalton Wolf, and Marissa Lisk as well as a great-grandson Paxton Kinder; sister Becky Royer of Canton , GA and brother Dan Wolf of California.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy (Kinser) Wolf in 2006 and son Len Michael Wolf.
There will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM Friday at Locust Grove Baptist Church Salem, Ohio with Pastor Robert Noble officiating.
Arrangements were handled by the Weber Funeral Home.
