Lisbon- Alton B. Crothers, 86, passed away Monday Morning, July 4, 2016 at Allay Senior Care.
Born July 3, 1930 in Leetonia, he was a son of the late Cecil A. and Carrie (Bates) Crothers.
He had worked in a variety of positions over the years including as a salesman for the Evening Journal, Lewis Chevrolet, Ray Lewis Co., and Pipelines. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad for 10 years and for the postal service as well.
A Navy veteran, he was a past president of F.O.E. 2216 and past Deputy vice-president of Ohio F.O.E and was a Golden Eagle. He was a member of VFW Post 4111 and American Legion Post 275. He volunteered with Special Olympics and was a former member of the Lisbon Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife Libby (Young) Crothers; his children Wesley Crothers of Lisbon, Alton (Beth) Crothers of Rootstown, Randy Crothers of Lisbon, Rachel Pierce of Salem, and Aura Lea (Joe) Artle of Longwood, FL; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous step-children and step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers George and James Crothers and a sister Janet Kleinknecht
Calling hours are 6 to 8 PM Friday at Weber Funeral home with an Eagles service at 7:45 PM. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday the funeral home with Dana Blackburn officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service as well.
